Lower Windsor Township- Despite being a small fire station, Craley Fire Company takes on the huge responsibility of protecting its community. This company takes pride in all of its members being volunteers and is beginning to search for more by launching its new four-year recruitment campaign.

Their new tagline, "Progressive Training, Aggressive Response," emphasizes the higher level of preparation that they use to save lives. Craley has developed a reputation for assisting other departments for mutual aid due to their ability to respond to calls within a 30-minute radius. To fill out an inquiry form or to learn more about the volunteer experience, Craley encourages all potential members to visit www. JoinCarleyFire.org.

To recruit as many volunteers as possible, Craley is taking the necessary steps to make this campaign widely accessible. Craley wants potential volunteers to receive an early glimpse of the action beforehand through social media marketing, newsletters, takeaway pamphlets, lawn signs, and more.

Craley Fire Company’s recruitment campaign runs through 2023-2027 and is at no cost to taxpayers. It is funded entirely through the Staffing for Adequate Fire & Emergency Response (SAFER) grant by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

No experience is required to become a volunteer. “At Craley, we’ll work with you to learn the roles of our operations as firefighters, ensuring that you master the essential skills and are able to advance further,” said Ethan Clites, firefighter and EMT.

Ways to Volunteer

Craley’s volunteers train at the fire company every other Wednesday and many of them pursue advanced training courses at York County Fire School. Training and gear are provided, and there are many ways to get involved.

Firefighter

Respond to a variety of calls, including structure or residential fires, brush fires, vehicle accidents, and more.

 Junior firefighter (ages 14-17)

Perform exterior groundwork at fire calls such as running hoses, laddering buildings, and grabbing tools for firefighters.

EMT

Provide medical treatment and emergency first aid on rescue calls, as well as assisting ambulance companies.

Fire Police

Keep first responders and the public safe at the scene of emergencies by regulating traffic.

Social Member

Manage fundraisers, fire company events, and bingo while having the opportunity to interact with the community.

In efforts to raise awareness of the recruitment process, Craley has partnered with Communications Solution Group Inc., a full-service public relations and marketing firm based in Jenkintown Pa. Communication Solutions has run numerous successful campaigns for other fire and rescue organizations such as Montoursville Fire Company, Ringing Hill Fire Company, West Manchester Fire Department, and many more.
